Unions to Pull Four Anti-Business Ballot
Initiatives Today
After Reaching Deal with Business
Representatives
During a press conference this morning, labor
union and business representatives announced an
agreement to oppose the right-to-work ballot
measure, Amendment 47, and two other initiatives
in exchange for the unions pulling four
anti-business amendments from the November 4th
ballot.
The individuals who originally filed the four
measures on behalf of the unions have until 5
p.m. to file paperwork at the office of the
Colorado Secretary of State to withdraw the
measures. The four anti-business initiatives
are:
-
Amendment 53 (Criminal Accountability of
Business Executives);
-
Amendment 55 (Just Cause Termination);
-
Amendment 56 (Mandated Health Insurance);
and
-
Amendment 57 (Remedies for Injured
Employees).
The CACI Board formally opposed the four
anti-business initiatives (53, 55, 56, and 57),
and endorsed Amendment 47 (Right-to-Work). CACI
was not involved in the negotiations between the
labor union representatives and the business
representatives.
The other two measures that the new
business-labor partnership will oppose are
Amendment 49 (Paycheck Protection) and Amendment
55 (Sole Sourcing). The CACI Board of Directors
did not take a position on these two
initiatives.
